After having experimented with various dyes found in Traditional Chinese Medicine over a period of several months, I finally chose a selection that I would use to make paper. For my linen, I chose a ‘primary colours’ pallette of indigo blue (quing dai 青黛), pink/red madder root (qian cao 茜草), and yellow amur cork tree (huang bai 黃柏).  (Read more...) Some expect roses on Valentine's Day. Others prefer chocolate. But us foodies preferred something a little different. Something a bit more savory and a bit less conventional. We opted for tea eggs, a delicious, healthy and traditional Chinese snack.
Tea Time with Lee Kit - [喇叭花|announcer]
Upon his arrival at The Pavilion, Lee Kit brought with him a plethora of his appropriated daily objects meant to bring new meaning into the space. Some of these works included plushy lounge pillows, brightly colored tablecloths and a Johnson’s bar of soap for the bathroom. After giving the space his personal touch, he sat and waited. Slowly friends trickled in and started to enjoy the delicious cookies and ripe oranges that were carefully arranged on the tea-time table. After some friendly mingling, Lee Kit drew the curtains and dimmed the lights so to start his discussion of recent works.

Together
with a group of friends and acquaintances, I consumed this dish one day
in June 2007 during Life in Space (LIS) – an annual experimental
workshop at my studio in Berlin. Here artists, architects, designers,
social and natural scientists, and others meet to explore our experience
of colour and movement, time and space. We make no distinction between
experiments, discussions, drinking coffee, and eating, and this informal
framework usually results in a long succession of ideas, exercises, and
an exploration of our senses. To avoid the meal appearing as a break
from the themes of the day, I asked René Redzepi if he would think about
doing a number of experiments with food, which would have bearing on
our perception of time and space and which the LIS participants were to
